Description

Washington, D.C. is the capital of the United States, a truly historic and important region. This area is not actually a part of any U.S. state but is rather a United States district. Washington D.C. was created by the signing of the Residence Act on July 16th, 1790. The goal was to create a small district between Maryland and Virginia, yet to create a region that was not actually a part of Maryland or Virginia. To celebrate D.C. and the many landmarks within it, David Owens illustrated this vintage travel poster of the Lincoln Memorial, a major D.C. attraction. The typography and concepts for this poster were developed in collaboration with Joel Anderson, creative director at Anderson Design Group.
