The French Riviera (or Côte d’Azur) is the beautiful Mediterranean coast of southeastern France. A health retreat in the 18th century, the area later attracted aristocrats, artists, and the 1960s “jet set.” Today it’s an established holiday destination, with paths connecting many coastal villages and towns. Inspired by its rich history of glamour and style, Anderson Design Group poster artist collaborator David Owens created a loose, fluid, colorful rendition of the town of Menton, which has all the beauty of the better-known coastal villages, but a fraction of the crowds. Its beaches are all but empty in the off-season, and boutique-filled alleyways are relatively free of bargain-hunting tourists. With over 316 days of sunshine a year, exceptional gardens, and quality Italian cuisine due to its position on the Franco-Italian border, it’s an ideal spot on the French Riviera.
The typography and concepts for this poster were developed in collaboration with Joel Anderson, creative director at Anderson Design Group.
